How Lidana Handles the Complexities of Core Banking Systems

Last week, we tried something new: an all-day workshop with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Avenza Consulting Services, a Surya group company that provides consulting around the Temenos Transact core banking system for leading global banks.

The objective of the workshop was to determine if Lidana could help them define high-quality test cases for complex banking features faster than they would have without Lidana?

The Challenge: Complex BRDs and Core Banking Nuance

We started with five Business Requirement Documents (BRDs). Created by SMEs through direct collaboration with banks, these BRDs outline requirements and feature enhancements on Temenos Transact.

Manually converting these into comprehensive test cases can take weeks, even for experienced teams.

The Results: 100% Coverage, 90% Less Time

Lidana generated 70% of the required test cases on the first shot using scattered documentation. With a few targeted user prompts for more granular details, it reached 100% test coverage in under 13 minutes.

For context, the SMEs estimated this same flow would have taken at least 2 hours manually. That’s a 90% time saving.

How We Did It

Understanding Core vs. Digital Systems

We tested whether Lidana could distinguish between the Temenos Transact core banking system (hosting the Digital Savings Account) and the user-facing digital application built on top of it.

Using screenshots from the core banking system that are not visible to customers but vital for data flow - Lidana immediately understood the context. With one simple prompt, it connected these backend data points to the corresponding user-facing flows and generated accurate, relevant test cases.

Rapid Iteration to Full Coverage

After the first 70% of cases were generated, the SMEs added a few more details using Lidana’s voice-assisted prompting: no typing required. Within minutes, and with a quick expert review, we hit 100% test coverage.
